AUVITY

Jean-Abraham AUVITY (1754-1821), knight of the empire by letters patent of 2 April 1812, donee on Illyrie on 1 January 1812, surgeon of the children of France, Knight of the Legion of Honour; born in Troyes, on 5 November 1754. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure, 2 palm leaves in saltire Argent, surmounted in chief in the 2nd point of a mullet Or, flanched in flanch and in base of three heads of new-born children Proper, two affrontee in the flanch and that of base guardant ; a terrace in base Gules, charged of the mark of knights of the Legion of Honour.


AUVRAY

Louis-Marie AUVRAY (1752-1833), baron of the empire by letters patent of 31 January 1810, donee (R. 4000) on Rome, 3 December 1809, colonel, prefect of the Sarthe, marshal of camp, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly: to the 1st, Azure, a shield Or, charged of an escutcheon of the field to the figure 40 Argent; to the 2nd, barons prefects; to the 3rd, Gules, a key in pale Argent; to the 4th, Azure, a fructed olive tree Argent.


AVERSÈNE

Jacques AVERSÈNE, captain to grenadiers on foot of the imperial guard, knight of the Empire, 17 May 1810.


AVICE

Jacques-Philippe AVICE (1759-????), baron of the empire by letters patent of 12 November 1809, donee on Rome on 15 August 1809, colonel of wyverns, brigadier general, 6 August 1811, commander, knight of Saint-Louis. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to the 1st, Or, a guardant damaged helmet Sable, towered of an egret Gules; to the 2nd, military barons; to the 3rd, Argent, a dexter arm Proper, turned up Vert, armed of a high sword in pale Gules; to the 4th, Azure, a salient unicorn Or, a narrow chief Or charged of a vol of 2 wings conjoined in base Sable.


Title of hereditary baron confirmed in favour of Jacques-Philippe AVICE, baron of the Empire, marshal of camp, by letters patent of 29 March 1817. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to the 1st, Or, a guardant damaged helmet Sable, towered of an egret Gules; to the 2nd, Gules, a high sword in pale Argent; to the 3rd, Argent, a dexter arm Proper, turned up Vert, armed of a high sword Gules, and issuing sinister; to the 4th, Azure, a salient unicorn Or, a chief Or, charged of a vol of 2 wings conjoined in base Sable.

AVOGRADO-CASANOVA

Joseph-Marie AVOGRADO-CASANOVA (1730-????), knight of the empire by letters patent of 24 February 1809, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Regulation of coats of arms:

Barruly Or and Gules, on the sinister is set of a third Gules charged of the mark of knights of the Legion of Honour.


AVRANGE

François d'AVRANGE de HAUGERANVILLE (1745-1817), baron of the empire by letters patent of 10 September 1808, donee on Trasimène, Hanover, Westphalia, Illyrie and Erfurt (1808, 1809.1810 and 1812), former inspector to reviews, brigadier general, major of the Bodyguards, Knight of the Legion of Honour, knight of Saint-Louis. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly: to the 1st, Azure, a chevron Or accompanied of three apples of the same 2 and 1; to the 2nd, military barons; to the 3rd, Gules, a cuirass Argent set in fess and surmounted of a helmet of the same; to the 4th, Azure, 2 swords Or in saltire, bases in top, cantoned in chief of a sun of the same, in flanches and in base of three mullets Argent.


Jean-François d'AVRANGE du KERMONT (1753-1822), knight of the empire by letters patent in May 1808; former first manservant of garde-robe of the king, police chief computer of the Hotel of the Invalids, Knight of the Legion of Honour, knight of Saint-Louis. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure, a chevron Or, cadenced by base, accompanied of three bezants of the same; a terrace in base Gules charged of the mark of knights of the Legion of Honour.

Letter of nobility in favour of Jean-François d'AVRANGE, intendant of the Invalids, servant of garde-robe of the king, by letters patent of 31 January 1818. Regulation of coats of arms:

Per fess: to the I, Azure, a chevron Or, accompanied of three bezants of the same, 2 and 1; to the II, Argent, a bend sinister Vert, charged of a courant horse Argent and accompanied of two swords Gules.

Title of hereditary baron confirmed in favour of Jean-François-Eugene, baron d'AVRANGE du KERMONT, colonel, by letters patent of 28 November 1815. Regulation of coats of arms:

Per fess, to the 1st Azure, a chevron Or accompanied of three bezants of the same; to the II, Argent, a bend sinister Vert, charged of a courant and facing the sinister horse also Argent.

AVY

Antoine-Sylvain AVY (1773-1814), baron of the empire by letters patent of 9 January 1810, colonel, brigadier general, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Regulation of coats of arms:

Per fess: to the 1st, per pale in dexter, Argent, a tower Sable embattled of 4 pieces and in sinister, of the military barons; to the 2nd, Azure, a passant lion Or; and over all, barry Or and Gules of six pieces.


AYMARD

Antoine AYMARD (1773-1862), baron of the empire by letters patent of 20 July 1808, confirmed by royal decree of 28 March 1818, donee on Rome on 17 March 1818, colonel, then lieutenant-general, peer of France (1834), Grand Cross, knight of Saint-Louis. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure fusilly Or, a bordure compony Sable and Argent; a quarter of the military barons.


Title of hereditary baron confirmed in favour of Antoine AYMARD, baron of the Empire, marshal of camp, by letters patent of 28 March 1818. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure, fusilly Or; a bordure compony Sable and Argent.

Transmission of the title of hereditary baron conferred to Antoine AYMARD, by letters patent of 20 July 1808, confirmed in favour of the son, Edouard-Antoine-Alphonse AYMARD, by ministerial order of 11 March 1863.

AYMÉ

Charles-Jean-Louis (alias Henri) AYME (1770-1852), baron of the empire by letters patent of 19 March 1808 and of 15 January 1809, donee (R. 4000) in Westphalia, 17 March 1808, confirmed by royal decree of 1 June 1816, major general, commander. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to the 1st, Or, a melusine or mermaid Proper holding a mirror Argent; to the 2nd, military barons; to the 3rd, Gules, 3 towers ruined Argent 2 and 1; to the 4th, Or, a hedge Vert debruising over a May of the same and towered of three sparrows Sable bearing each one in the beak a violet Proper.


Title of hereditary baron confirmed in favour of Charles-Jean-Louis AYME, baron of the Empire, ex-adjudant commanding, by letters patent of 1 June 1816. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to the 1st, Or, a Melusine Proper, holding a mirror Argent; to the 2nd, Gules, a sword in pale Argent; to the 3rd, Gules, 3 towers ruined Argent, 2 and 1; to the 4th, Or, a hedge Vert, debruising over a May of the same and towered of three sparrows Sable, holding each one a violet Proper.

AYMÉ

Jacques-Rene-Marie AYME DE LA CHEVRELIERE (1771-????), baron of the empire, with majorat on the ground of Chevrelière, by letters patent of 27 June 1811, officer chief treasurer and paymaster, first chamberlain of the king of Deux-Siciles, Officer of The Legion of Honour, member of the body of electors of Two-Sevres. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to 1st and 4th, Azure, a climbing goat Argent grazing an ivy Or; to the 2nd, barons members of the body of electors; to the 3rd, Gules, a sword Or in bend; and over all, Sable, on the dexter is set an erased palm tree Argent and on the sinister is set a crescent of the same.

Title of hereditary baron confirmed on majorat (estate of Chevrelière) (Two-Sevres), in favour of Jacques-Rene-Marie AYME, Aymé baron de Chevrelière, by letters patent of 22 December 1820. Regulation of coats of arms:

Quarterly : to 1st and 4th, Azure, a goat climbing Argent, grazing an ivy Or; to the 2nd Gules, an oak Argent, set in bend; to the 3rd, Gules, a sword Or, set in bend. Over all : Sable, on the dexter is set a palm tree erased Argent  and on the sinister is set a crescent of the same.

Transmission of the title of hereditary baron and majorat conferred to Jacques-Rene-Marie AYME DE LA CHEVRELIERE, by letters patent by 27 June 1811 and 22 December 1820, confirmed in favour of the son junior, Louis-Marie-Emile AYME DE LA CHEVRELIERE, by ministerial order of 31 August 1880. Transmission of the title of hereditary baron confirmed, after the death of the precedent, in favour of his/her elder son, Jean-Marie-Charles AYME DE LA CHEVRELIERE, by ministerial order of 19 April 1887.

AZEM

Antoine AZEM (1773-????), knight of the empire by letters patent of 14 August 1813, donee on Mount-of-Milan, 1 February 1808, captain of chasseurs, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure manteld Or, a chevron Gules debruising, charged of the mark of knights of the Legion of Honour, accompanied in chief of two hunting horns Vert and in base of a sword Or in pale.


AZÉMAR

Jean-Baptiste-Pierre Melchior of AZEMAR DE SAINT-MAURICE DE CAZEVIELLE (1740-1821), baron of the empire by letters patent of 28 December 1810, prefect of the Var. Regulation of coats of arms:

Azure, a bend Argent charged of three crescents Sable and on the sinister is set in chief a counter-rampant lion Or; a quarter of the barons prefects.

AZUNI

Dominique-Albert AZUNI (1756-1826), knight of the empire by letters patent of 19 June 1813, president of the criminal Court of Genoa, deputy to the legislative Body (1808), senator, Knight of the Legion of Honour. Regulation of coats of arms:

Per fess : to the 1st, Argent, a rising phoenix Sable; to the 2nd, Azure, a saltier Or cantoned in chief of a mullet with eight points of the same; a bordure Azure charged of the mark of the knights of the Reunion.
